We’ve all heard of the Man Cave, but have you heard of the She Shed? I’ve been hearing more and more ladies planning their own She Shed, and, my soon to be hubby has a big pole barn, I am beginning to want my own She Shed!
So what exactly is a She Shed? It’s a place of relaxation for us ladies! It is like your own personal
Best Buy shares six She Shed ideas for using technology to create the ultimate relaxation retreat.
Extend the Wi-Fi for endless entertainment
Streaming music, movies and TV shows are great ways to unwind, but to stream successfully, you need strong Wi-Fi. Getting that signal out to the she shed in the backyard is often a challenge, so one of the first things we did actually didn’t happen in the shed. We added a Wi-Fi range extender inside the home. No need for extra wiring or calling the cable company!
Set the mood with your phone
The right lighting can make all the difference. I would suggest going with Philips hue. It has 16 million different colors, including presets like “Reading,” “Relax” and “Energize.” Everything is customizable and controllable via your phone. We used hue bulbs in our lamps and portable hue GO lights on our shelves. We wanted phone-control for the chandelier, too, but since it uses standard lights, we plugged it into a Belkin WeMo switch instead. The switch lets you turn things on and off right from the WeMo app.
Turn ugly cables into art
I love this idea!! I am actually going to try this in my bedroom. Cables and cords are a necessity, but they sure aren’t pretty. Concealing them is the easiest way to avoid the eyesore. Or when life gives you cables, make cable art. It transforms something functional into a unique conversation piece. You can see an example below of a bull or maybe it’s a bison. You decide. Art is subjective.
You can’t control the weather. Or can you? If you use the Philips hue lights, they have a preset that simulates sunlight, perfect to sun automatically rise when it’s raining.
Grant access without a key
The days of hiding a key under the front porch mat are over. You can use the August smart lock. Installation was pretty easy and it works with most standard deadbolts. Once it’s set up, not only can you lock and unlock the shed from your phone, you can also send an invite to a friend so she can enter for specific periods of time. Pretty cool right and perfect for any family.
This is a MUST! Every She Shed need wine and more wine. You can repurpose an old cabinet to hide a coffee maker, tea maker or small wine fridge.
I would LOVE to turn the ugly cables into art! If you want to use your Kindle, watch Netflix, or anything else that requires cables, that last thing you need in your relaxation retreat is a bunch of ugly cables! I love the way Best Buy does it so that it seems like a piece of art. I NEVER would have thought to do that! Now if you are super creative, you can even decorate the canvas, and have the cords a part of the art. For this one, you could add grass and flowers and a beautiful blue sky!
Whether your She Shed is a serene place with minimal distractions, or a brightly colored, well lit entertainment shack, Best Buy can help you make it YOURS!
