1. Over Cardigans
Sometimes you need to add a cardigan to your outfit in order to keep yourself warm, to add a little more color, or to cover up a little more. But let’s be honest, sometimes cardigans can look a little frumpy. They tend to hang and always in awkward places, but a great way to remedy that is to put a belt over the cardigan. It looks best when it’s belted around your natural waist because it shows off your curves and makes you look thinner than if you were not wearing a belt at all.

2. Chunky Sweaters
Chunky sweaters are another one of those wardrobe pieces that can make you look a little larger than wanted. Throw on a belt over that sweater and you’ve instantly got a waist. This look is perfect for those chilly days when you need a warm sweater, but still want to look beautiful and stylish.
3. Coats
When it’s cold enough to wear a big coat, no matter how cute they are, they may need a little extra something to dress them up. Who says you can’t throw a belt on over your coat? No one! I love this look and can’t wait to try it myself soon. The coat may not need a belt, but it certainly looks great.

4. Blanket Scarves
Blanket scarves have become increasingly popular over the last few years and for good reason. They look so incredibly cute, especially when tied off at the waist with a belt. If you didn’t have a belt with this outfit, the scarf could have been overwhelming, but the belt pulls it all in and makes it look very chic.

5. Jumpsuits
Jumpsuits may not be a piece of clothing that everyone loves, but I personally love that these 70s inspired clothes have come back in fashion. They’re such a fun piece of clothing! As if they really needed anything extra to make them look more cute, but if you want to add some more flare, throw on a belt where the waist is synched in.

6. Tucked In Shirt
A lot of times we get really creative when it comes to where we wear a belt, but why not wear it the old fashioned way by putting it through the belt loops and tucking in your shirt? For a bit of an updated look, only tuck in the front part of your shirt and leave the rest of it loosely hanging out of your pants. It’s a very modern way to wear your shirt tucked in and won’t look as 90s as if it were tucked in all the way around.

7. With A Dress
Wearing belts with a dress is not usually something you see because, I mean, you don’t really need a belt to keep your dress up. However, wearing one high around your waist looks so adorable. It’s great because if your dress isn’t form fitting but more flowy, a belt will pull in all that extra fabric and show off your waist.

8. High Waisted Skirt
You can also throw on a belt around your natural waist when wearing a high waisted skirt. Even though your waist is already being defined by the top of the skirt, sometimes your outfit just needs a little something more. That’s where the belt comes in. You can wear a thin one over the skirt where the top is still visible, or you can wear a thick, chunky belt that will completely cover up the top of the skirt and almost make the whole outfit look like a dress. Either way, it looks really cute and very fashionable.
