1. Change your perspective.
One simple step is to manage the way we think. When we are in a stressful situation, we should take a step back and view the situation from a different perspective. Are there lessons to be learned? Is there a new way we can approach the stress in our lives? What do we have control over that we can positively change? Monitoring our attitudes will help us reduce stress.

3. Communicate.
When someone asks, “How are you doing?” we quickly answer “fine” or “good.” But we must allow ourselves to communicate our stress to each other to feel a sense of release. There’s a fine line between venting and oversharing, but it is freeing to express our negative feelings. I don’t know about you, but I always feel better after talking things through with someone I can trust.
4. Don’t isolate yourself.
Introverts need time alone, but whether we are introverted or extroverted, we can’t respond to stress by isolating ourselves from the world. Spending too much time alone can convince us our lives are worse than they are. We get caught up in negative thoughts that can create a downward spiral. Make an effort to find a healthy balance of time alone and time to socialize.
